To further identify and define our feline rescue efforts under the Jersey Shore Animal Foundation charity umbrella, Kitties and Critters was established. Our efforts are specific to decrease the number of cats euthanized in local shelters. We do so by:
• promoting adoptions
• rescuing, networking and transporting those in danger
• sharing resources of low-cost spay/neuter options
• supporting trap, neuter, return efforts
Working closely with local shelters, we pull cats and kittens from shelters and offer them for adoption at our adoption center in the Howell PetSmart. Other cats and kittens in our rescue can be seen on Petfinder and on Facebook. In addition to pulling cats and kittens for our rescue, we also network with other rescue groups and offer transportation. Our involvement with Trap, Neuter and Return (TNR) includes feeding and maintaining our own feral colony while offering suggestions and sharing resources with those interested in low cost spay/neuter and TNR.
While our mission encompasses the ideals outlined by Jersey Shore Animal Foundation, our specific focus revolves around cats. We believe in pooling our resources and working with other feline rescue organizations networking to reduce the number of stray and abandoned cats in local shelters and neighborhoods. Our goal is permanent placement for all cats and small animals in need.
